Which Is Best For Cooking Burgers? Charcoal or Gas Grill

Charcoal and gas are both best for grilling food. However, there is a difference between charcoal and a gas grill. The gas grill is easy to use and handle. There is no need to prepare the gas grill for cooking. You just have to fill the tank of the grill with liquid gas. The only disadvantage is that it does not give such a smoky flavour as a charcoal grill. Moreover, it is easy to clean after cooking.

On the other hand, a charcoal grill gives a smoky flavour to any food that cooks on it. It requires a lot of preparation for cooking. Cooking on a charcoal grill is a slow and low-energy process. So, we prefer to cook burgers on a charcoal grill.

What Should You Know Before Using a Charcoal Grill

When you’re done grilling with charcoal, there’s no off switch like there is with gas barbecues.

The coals burn incredibly hot and can take up to 48 hours to cool fully before being discarded.

Although there are ways to expedite the process, they should still be let to sit for several hours before being handled.

Some individuals may believe it is acceptable to simply let the coals burn out on their own, but this creates a dangerous condition for both dogs and people. If left unattended, it can cause a fire! Always dispose of coals and ashes in a non-combustible container!

What Supplies Will You Require To Put Out A Charcoal Grill

You may require the following items, depending on how you intend to use the charcoal grill:

  • Grill Brush
  • Heat Proof gloves
  • Grill Tongs
  • Metal Scoop or Spoon
  • Aluminium Foil
  • Metal Bucket of Water

Quickly And Safely Lighting A Charcoal Grill

There are two ways to dispose of your charcoal. You may either be patient or rush through it. It’s not that one way is better than the other; it’s just a matter of personal preference.

You have the option of waiting 48 hours or deliberately speeding up the procedure to a 10-15 minute task. As you read further down, you’ll notice that the rapid method allows you to skip step 2, making the process much easier.

Step 1: Turn It Off

The first step in putting your grill out is to close the lid, which will smother the flames. Any ventilation ports in the room should be closed.

Step 2: Get Rid of the Ash and Charcoal

You can skip this step if you use the quick approach for putting out your charcoal barbecue described above. If you don’t use the water approach, you can safely remove the ashes and charcoal briquettes to dispose of them after 48 hours.

Before you remove the ashes and charcoal, prepare a wide piece of aluminium foil. With a metal scoop, carefully scoop out the ash and place it in the foil. Set any briquettes that can be recovered and used later aside for the time being.

Wrap the foil tightly and dispose of it in a metal container once the grill is free of charcoal and ash. Plastic containers should be avoided because even the tiniest ember might cause them to melt and cause difficulties.

Step 3: Clean the Grill

You can sweep the ashes out of the grill once the larger mess has been cleaned out of it. Prepare to scrub with your grill brush and some water.

Soap isn’t required, but if your grill hasn’t been completely cleaned in a while, you might want to get some. Remove the grate and scrape it clean with the grill brush, using water to dislodge stuck-on food and debris as needed.

Scrub the rest of the grill with the brush, being careful to clean around the vents to avoid obstructing ventilation during the next cooking session. If you used soap to clean the grill, make sure you rinse it well afterward. Now it’s time to let it dry!

Toss the rescued charcoal into the grill once it’s dry (assuming you’ll be using it again soon!) so they’ll be ready when the grill is cranked up the following time. Close the grill and cover it, and you’re good to go!
