The coating on the Spanish churros and Mexican churros differs as well. Spain’s are simply coated in sugar, while Mexico’s are coated with cinnamon sugar.

The perfect golden cook occurs as they are injected directly into the hot oil. As soon as the Mexican churros are finished frying, they are coated in this cinnamon sugar mixture.

What Are Churros Made Of?

Churros are traditionally prepared using flour, sugar, oil, salt, and baking powder. I know it’s very minimal! They can also be deep fried, so the result is quite different from these.

Rather than making a traditional churro dough, we will be using choux pastry dough for today’s recipe. You may have come here looking for something less greasy and a little more healthy. This recipe may be good for you. Our selected dough is typically used to make eclair and cream puffs. Churros require the following ingredients:

How To Cook Frozen Churros In Air Fryer?

Cooking frozen churros in an air fryer is so easy.

  1. Simply place the frozen churros in the air fryer basket after opening the bag or box.
  2. Then set the timer for 8 minutes at 180°C, and they are complete.
  3. You can serve them afterwards with your favourite chocolate ganache made with the air fryer.

How To Cook Fresh Churros In Air Fryer

In a medium sauce pan over medium heat, bring the water, salt, sugar, and butter to a boil. Using a wooden spatula, mix quickly the flour into the boiling mixture after it boils. Keep stirring until mixture is thick and does not stick to the pot.

Use a paddle attachment on a stand mixer or a heatproof bowl to mix the mixture. We will then be able to add the eggs to the churro dough after it has cooled down. You should allow 3-5 minutes for this process to complete.

When the churro dough has cooled down, add the eggs one at a time while continuing to mix. As a result, the mixture will become much more sticky. Using a spoon, transfer the churro mixture to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. I used the Wilton 1M to pipe the churros on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Use a knife or scissors to snip off the end. For 30 minutes, place the baking sheet in the freezer.

Preheat the air fryer to 360 degrees Fahrenheit three minutes before your churros are ready to be baked. The frozen churros should be gently removed from the parchment paper and placed into an air fryer basket, where they should be baked for 13-14 minutes. You may have to bake the churros in multiple batches depending on the type of air fryer you have. Freeze leftover churros to prevent them from getting mushy.

Combine the sugar and the cinnamon in a shallow bowl or plastic bag. The baked churros should be tossed into the cinnamon sugar while they are still hot.
