How To Air Fry Totinos Pizza
How To Air Fry Totinos Pizza So That It Is Super Crispy
Totino’s pizza rolls cooked in the oven are loved by most people that I know. The baking time is between 10 and 15 minutes after you preheat the oven. They are best deep-fried, as we all know. However, heating the oil, frying, then cleaning up the mess takes time as well. Hence, we will be learning how to air fry Totino’s pizza.
If I want frozen pizza rolls, it’s usually as an after-school snack, so I microwave them. Despite the sogginess, they turn out okay.
An air fryer oven to the rescue, my favorite kitchen gadget. We use less oil and less time than to preheat the oven. You will need to wait a few minutes longer than with a microwave. Your family will love our crispy pizza rolls.
These small pizza bites were my very first attempt at air frying. In researching cooking times and temperatures on Reddit, I spent a great deal of time. But I had a place to start from there. The pizza rolls blew out because of higher air frying temperatures.
The next step was to visit Totino’s website. The oven method recommends cooking on a baking sheet in a single layer at 425F for 10 to 15 minutes. On the website, it does say, that the Totino filling will become hot. It’s no joke, that molten cheese lava is so hot that it will burn your tongue.
When I was ready for my very scientific experiment, I needed some pizza rolls to air fry. The bags from the frozen pizza aisle were familiar to me when I went to the local grocery store. Pepperoni has always been my favorite flavor. It’s hard to resist the combination of pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni with the crunchy crust.
There are many types of pizza rolls available, but I have not tried them all.
Researching How To Cook Totinos Pizza In An Air Fryer
It will be an Instant Vortex Plus Air Fryer Oven that I will use for the experiment. Everything cooks evenly when I use the middle rack, and I don’t have to move anything around. The air fryer I have does not cook evenly, and I’d rather have a basket-type one. Halfway through the cooking process, I give everything a good shake.
As opposed to a baking sheet used in the oven, this rack has holes so that hot air can circulate and cook the bottom of whatever I’m cooking. We decided not to flip things in this experiment since my air fryer will alarm me when the cooking is close to ending.
Also, my air fryer is set to preheat then alarm when it is time to add food. For consistency, we did let the air fryer preheat before cooking the pizza rolls in batches.
How To Air Fry Totinos Pizza
One of the big problems talked about on Reddit was a blowout. Blowout happens when the water inside the rolls turns to steam and causes the sides to blow out. The pizza sauce will mess the inside of the fryer. Our pizza rolls come with a perfect sauce-to-crust ratio, so we prefer to eat them rather than clean them up.
Air fry at 390F for 6 minutes This was my first batch. The air fryer was preheated to the temperature that was previously set. Place the pizza rolls in a single layer in the middle of the oven. Six minutes had been set on the oven timer. I opened the door quickly, turned off the alarm when it beeped, and closed it again after it beeped. Pizza rolls were removed once the timer reached zero. The way they looked was like this.
There was a considerable blowout on most of the rolls, some worse than others. The oven drip tray at the bottom had sauce all over it even though none of them exploded. These were the crispiest during the taste test. The sauce was almost nonexistent in some of them. Our marinara sauce was a godsend.
Following clean-up in the oven, we prepared the second batch of air-fried chicken. Cooking them followed the same process. I set the timer for six minutes and the oven to 375 F. Their appearance was as follows.
Cooking in Batches
There is a similarity between this batch and the first batch. In the oven’s drip tray, there was only one drop of sauce. Crunchy and filled with melting cheese and hot sauce, they were delicious. The melting part was what I liked the most.
The third batch was also fried at 350F for 6 minutes. There was a timer set for six minutes, and the oven temperature was 350 F. Their appearance was as follows. Although they were crispy, they weren’t as crispy as the first two batches. There were still a lot of them closed, but they were full of hot filling. Some of them were leaking, but they did not blow out.
Here’s hoping you can use this experiment to find out how long and at what temperature your air fryer should be cooking.
Spray a neutral-flavored oil like vegetable oil on your pizza rolls to make them crisp up even more. Olive oil might not go well with the sophisticated flavor of pizza rolls.
If you want to boost their flavor, even more, sprinkle on some parmesan cheese when they are done.
My daughters drizzle maple syrup on their ones, but I usually dip them in marinara sauce. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
But before you forget, they are stuffed with cheesy lava just out of the oven.
Here is a recipe that you can try for yourself.
