You will also have a wonderful sandwich if you add ham to it and have an uncrustable ham and cheese sandwich. These uncrustables are also sublime with tuna.

My family was disappointed when Smucker’s decided to discontinue their grilled cheese uncrustables. However, they did not have to worry, as I was confident that they would find something equally delicious that would be similar. So, I decided to experiment with various ways to make grilled cheese uncrustables. There are already so many flavors of homemade uncrustables that they are worth looking at. Today we are going to be exploring all I learned along the way and equip you with the answers so, you can make them too. Let’s dive in.

How To Freeze Uncrustables

Here are a few steps that will help you freeze your uncrustables like you would if you bought them from the freezer aisle of a local store.

  1. You must first prepare the sandwiches according to the instructions below. Your uncrustables must be completely cooled after they have been assembled.
  2. Wrap each sandwich tightly in plastic wrap once your sandwiches have cooled completely.
  3. Wrapped sandwiches should be placed in an airtight container or Ziploc bag once they have been wrapped individually.
  4. The sandwiches are now protected from freezer burn, so you can store them for up to three months in your bag or container.

Do you plan on storing your sandwiches for more than three months? Your sandwiches will need to be vacuum sealed individually by means of a vacuum sealer. When vacuum-sealed, your uncrustables should last for up to 6 months in the freezer.

How Do You Reheat Ham & Cheese Uncrustables?

Uncrustables are pretty easy to reheat. Your air fryer can be used to rewarm your uncrustables. To do this:

  1. Set your air fryer to preheat. Three minutes is enough for the air fryer to reach 390 degrees Fahrenheit. When your air fryer has been preheated, lightly grease your air fryer basket by spritzing with cooking oil.
  2. Cook your sandwiches for three to five minutes in your air fryer. The sandwiches do not need to be thawed: merely reheat the frozen sandwiches until the cheese is melted and the centers are warm.

Tools & Ingredients Needed To Air Fry Homemade Uncrustables

Bread

Choose a bread that holds up well in the freezer and is a little denser for this recipe. It should be possible to use most white or wheat breads.

Sandwich Fixings

You can be as creative as you like! Use the air fryer method described below to make meat and cheese sandwiches for your kids who love meat and cheese sandwiches. If your kids are more PB&J fans, use your favorite peanut butter and jelly then continue with the recipe below and skip toasting.

Butter

In order to get the desired crispiness in the air fryer, melted butter will be needed. Especially if you are making uncrustable sandwiches with savory meats and cheeses.

Circle Cutter

You can make your homemade uncrustables look like the real thing by using a circle cutter, glass, or mason jar with a wide mouth.

Fork

Your uncrustables will be crimped closed using the prongs of a fork. When you want to freeze your uncrustables, this is particularly crucial.

How To Get The Circle-shaped Bread Your Uncrustables Have In The Grocery Store

This easy freezer sandwich can be made two different ways. You won’t need to purchase anything additional to make uncrustables the first way I’m going to show you. This method does require a little more effort, however. Ready?

Method 1: Use a cookie cutter!

Round cookie cutters can be used to make uncrustables. The cookie cutter I prefer is made of stainless steel. With stainless steel cookie cutters, I find the cuts are smoother, and I need less pressure to complete them. Furthermore, I think you get a cleaner edge on your bread using stainless steel cookie cutters. The steps will remain the same if you use a plastic cookie cutter.

Method 2: Using a Circle Cuter/Uncrustable Cutter

A fork is needed when you use the cookie-cutter method to crimp the edges of your sandwiches. You can take the easy way out and purchase an uncrustables maker instead of using a fork to seal your sandwich edges. This tool is great for making sandwiches since it makes them so much easier and gives them a professional look. I love to make sandwiches with this uncrustable maker, and it’s the method I mostly use.

How To Air Fry Uncrustables

Step 1: Shape your bread.

Use a glass, mason jar, or circle cutter to cut your bread into big circles. Ensure that all crusts are removed!

Step 2: Fill the sandwiches with food.

On half of each slice of bread, place the meat, cheese, and tuna. Butter, mayonnaise, or mustard can also be spread on this slice of bread.

Step 3: How to seal uncrustables to air fry?

Each meat and cheese piece should be topped with one plain piece of bread. Squeeze the two pieces of bread together gently using the palms of your hands. To close your sandwich, use the prongs of a fork to crimp the edges.

Step 4: How to air fry your uncrustables

Set your air fryer to preheat to 400 degrees F. Place the sandwich in your air fryer basket after brushing it with melted butter using a pastry brush. Allow to air fry for about 8 – 10 minutes, flipping mid-way. Enjoy those gooey cheese pulls while your air fryer uncrustables are warm!
