It’s so easy to make veggie tots in the air fryer. However, we will be learning about how to air fry veggie tots. They are delicious as a snack or side dish.

What is your favorite tater tot? As for me. In the late hours of the night, we fry frozen tots. Vegans eat healthily, but who says they always do? As a healthier alternative to the late-night treat, I offer you these veggie tots.

How To Air Fry Frozen Veggie Tots

We’ll get to the recipe from scratch after we look at air-fried frozen tots. You can make these easy cauliflower tots yourself. However, sometimes it is easier to pull out a bag of frozen tots and throw them in the basket without much effort.

To cook the tots in a normal air fryer, heat them to 400° F for 10-12 minutes. When there is more than one layer of tots, shake once.

They come in a variety of sizes. My ZenChef Pro XXL and similar air fryers work well with the cooking time listed here.

What Are The Benefits Of Making Your Own Tots?

Buying frozen veggie tots at the store might seem more convenient than making them from scratch.

I’m glad you asked!

There’s no need to struggle when it comes to frozen cauliflower tots. What you might not know is that there are lots of them that contain eggs?

It’s great that you asked!

That frozen cauliflower tot recipe is easy. Yet most of them also contain eggs?

Frozen tots are often fried first, so buying them frozen isn’t good for your heart.

The tots are packed with healthy ingredients!

Air Fryer That You Can Try For Yourself

ZenChef is sponsoring this recipe, so I used their PRO XXL Air Fryer to make it. ZenChef, thank you so much!

It has been over a year since I bought this air fryer, and it’s easily my favorite kitchen appliance. My favorite part about the basket is its size (5.8 quarts! ), as well as how pretty it is.

The kind of air fryer I prefer is this basket design. As you probably know, I am super picky when it comes to air fryers. It pops out for easy cleaning and has holes (rather than mesh) at the bottom to prevent sticking.

The S button on this air fryer is my favorite feature. I use the S to start and stop the cooking process. When I need to stop a cooking cycle early, I press the button the stop button rather than unplugging it. I’ve never seen an air fryer with a stop button before.

Getting the most out of your recipes

Use frozen cauliflower rice for this no-mince cauliflower tot recipe.

Get your potatoes ready to cook before you begin. One small yellow potato is needed for this recipe, and it can be boiled, steamed, or microwaved. Microwaves are my preferred method here because they work fast. In the comments, please do not yell at me if you do not like microwaves. I am not required to use one.

While the potato is cooking, stir together a bit of olive oil and salt with the frozen cauliflower. Oil will make the tots brown better, but it is not necessary to use it. You are the one who decides!

To prevent your hands from burning, carefully cut the potato into 1″ pieces as soon as it finishes cooking with a knife.

Mix the hot potato and cauliflower and then transfer it to the bowl. Cauliflower will thaw when it is cooked with the potato, and the potato will cool down when it is cooked with cauliflower.

When the mixture is cool enough to handle, knead it into a dough with clean hands. At this point, the mixture will probably be very cold.

It’s time to make tots!

Use your fingers to gently flatten the top and bottom of each tot after grabbing a heaping tablespoon of the dough from the bowl at a time. The final number of tots will depend on the amount you heaped onto the tablespoon.

After you have lined the air fryer basket with parchment paper, place your cauliflower tots in it.

If you wish, you can top them off by dipping them in vegan ranch “honey” mustard sauce!

It’s so easy to make Cauliflower Tots in the air fryer. You don’t have to mince! They are delicious as a snack or side dish.

Air Fryer Frozen Veggie Tots

The outcome of how the veggie tots cook depends on many factors. You will need to adjust timing depending on the size, the vegetable type, the thickness, and sometimes the coating. 14 ounces, or about the maximum amount of food you should put in a smaller air fryer without overcrowding it, is typically the maximum amount. Shaking the basket more frequently becomes necessary as you fill it up the basket to help them cook evenly. As long as the basket isn’t more than half full, you can cook more if you have a larger air fryer.

The temperature that an air fryer cooks at varies from one to another. Depending on your air fryer model and food size, you’ll learn more after experiencing the first batch. Air fryers with baskets were tested.

Ingredients

  • 14 oz. (396 g) Frozen Veggie Tots
  • salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Assemble the air fryer basket by spreading out the frozen veggie tots evenly. Oil spray is not necessary.
  2. Cook for 5-8 minutes at 400°F/205°C. Halfway through cooking, agitate and stir gently. If you’re in the following batch or your veggie tots aren’t cooking evenly, turn them in multiple times.
  3. Depending on your preferences, air fry an additional 1-3 minutes at 400°F/205°C. Salt & pepper to taste, if desired.
