There are some people that are health conscious. Well, have no fear, you can still eat high-quality tater tots, and make them using less oil fat by using an air fryer.

  • Frozen Tater Tots
  • Cajun Seasoning (to taste)


  1. Use a nonstick spray-on your air fryer basket.
  2. Evenly place the frozen tots in the basket and season them with Cajun powder.
  3. Place the basket into the air fryer and set the temperature at 400 degrees F. Cook the tater tots for 10-12 minutes. During the cooking time, toss the tater tots once. Serve hot!

Tater Tots From Scratch

When you make your tater tots from scratch you know what’s in it, which is fresh potatoes. No more store-bought frozen tater tots that have additional things that you don’t need in your body.

Yields: 36 pieces


For the Spicy Mayo Dip:
  • Mayonnaise (1/2 cup)
  • Sriracha sauce (1 tbs.)
  • lemon juice (1 tsp.)
  • Worcestershire sauce (1 tbs., more to taste)
  • Ground black pepper (1 dash or to taste)
For the Tater Tots:
  • Ground black pepper (1/4 tsp.)
  • Russet potatoes (2 lbs.)
  • Kosher salt (1½ tsp., divided)
  • Onion powder (1/2 tsp.)
  • Garlic powder (1/2 tsp.)
  • Cooking spray


Make the Dipping Sauce
  1. Portion all of your ingredients to make the sauce.
  2. Add pepper, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, Sriracha sauce, and mayonnaise, in a bowl until it is fully combined. Cover the sauce and refrigerate it until you are ready to serve.
Make & Cook the Tater Tots
  1. Portion all of your ingredients to make the tater tots. Turn on your oven and heat it to 200 degrees F. The oven will not be used to cook the tater tots but to keep them warm. When you’re done cooking each batch in the air fryer put them in the oven.
  2. In a saucepan place all of your peeled potatoes into it and fill it with water.
  3. Over high heat, place the potatoes on the stove and bring them to a boil.
  4. Reduce the heat to low once it’s boiling, cover the pan with a lid and let it boil for 7 to 9 minutes (partially cooked) or until a fork can pierce the potatoes but it’s still firm. Drain the water from the saucepan and let the potatoes cool for about 15 minutes.
Forming You Tater Tots
  1. Use a food processor with the grating attachment to grate the potatoes. In a large bowl, add 1 teaspoon of garlic powders, onion, and kosher salt, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, and the grated potatoes. Mix well
  2. Take a tablespoon of potato mix and shape it into an oblong tot. Place a parchment paper on a baking tray and put each shaped tater tot on it. If the potato mix is sticking on your hands while you work, use a bit of water to moisten each shaping mix. Once all the potatoes are shaped, let them rest for 5 minutes.
Let’s Fry Our Tots!
  1. Use the oil spray to spray in the air fryer basket. Place some of the potatoes in the basket but give them space so that they are not crowded, once done spray the potatoes in the basket. Heat the air fryer at 375 degrees F and let the potatoes cook for 15 minutes. During the cooking time shake the air fryer basket every 5 minutes.
  2. Once each batch of tater tots is cook, place them in a pan and lightly season them with salt. Place these batches in the oven that you had set at 200 degrees F. Repeat these steps until all of your potatoes mix are done.
  3. Serve on a plate and enjoy with the dip.
