How to Cook Like a Hibachi Chef

How to Cook Hibachi Fried Rice

In case you don’t know, Hibachi cooking consists of preparing the food in a heated wok or big skillet. The ingredients required for the recipe include cooked and cooled rice, soy sauce, butter, and the other things you require for cooking regular fried rice. You can use any variety of rice, but they use white rice in the restaurant.

  • Toasted Sesame oil (1 teaspoon)
  • Onion (1, small and chopped)

Instructions for the Recipe:

Step 1: Heat the Wok or Skillet

Step 3: Add Butter on Wok or Skillet

Add one tablespoon of the butter in the skillet or wok when it becomes hot. Wait for the butter to melt and after that add the eggs. Once you add the eggs, you will require scrambling until they become less runny. Take out the egg after that while it’s still soft. You can also keep them aside from the skillet/wok where the heat is less.

How to Cook Hibachi Chicken (with Sautéed Vegetables)

The Hibachi chicken is cooked in the same way on a large wok or skillet over high heat. It is one of the popular dishes in hibachi restaurants. Let’s see how you can cook the Hibachi chicken.

Here are the ingredients you will need:

  • Large Chicken Breast (3pcs, sliced into smaller pieces)
  • Sesame Oil (2 tablespoons)
  • Vegetable Oil (2 tablespoons)
  • Butter (2 tablespoons)
  • Garlic (Minced, a few cloves)
  • Soy Sauce (3 tablespoons)
  • Onion (1pc, medium)
  • Crimini Mushrooms (1 8- oz)
  • Hibachi/ Yum-Yum Sauce
  • Mayonnaise (1 cup)
  • Ketchup (1 tablespoon)
  • Rice Vinegar (1 tablespoon)
  • Salt and Pepper

That’s a lot of items! But note that most of the items here will be used for making the sauce. So, if you don’t think the sauce is important, you may proceed without these ingredients. Here are the steps you need to follow:

Step 1: Add the Chickens on Hot Oil

Add one tablespoon of the cooking oil and another tablespoon of the sesame oil in a large wok or skillet. Now put it on the stove at medium heat and wait for the oil to become hot. Then add chicken along with the seasonings, salt, and pepper. Now cook for one minute.

Step 2: Cook the Chicken

After that add one tablespoon of butter, soy sauce, and the minced garlic and sauté for a while until cooked through. Now put them aside in the cookware and cover with foil if possible.

Step 3: Cooking the Vegetables
