How To Clean Ninja Foodi Air Fryer Lid Without Damaging It

The Foodi brand’s goal is to bring together various kitchen appliances such as pressure cookers, slow cookers, and air fryers. That is exactly what they did with the Ninja Air Fryer. The one complaint many users seem to voice repeatedly, however, is that the second lid that comes attached for air frying is difficult to clean. And this can be true if you aren’t sure of the hacks to use. If you find yourself in this bracket with so many other Foodi users, this post has got you covered. In this post, we will explore how to clean Ninja Foodi air fryer lid without damaging it. (Read more about Best Ninja Foodi)

The Ninja Air Fryer is a super gadget. Not only does it allow you to save space in your kitchen, but you can also combine cooking methods for the best results. For example, cooking chicken in a pressure cooker for speed and juiciness and a crunchy finish will give you the perfect crunchy skin.

It is similar to commonly used electric pressure cookers such as Sage Fast Slow Pro and Instant Pot, but it also allows air frying. The Foodi Air Fryer is the first product to combine a pressure cooker with another trendy kitchen appliance called the air fryer. Looking around the market, there is no shortage of kitchen appliances that combine slow cooking and high-pressure cooking. It is okay, but what if you need fried or crispy food? To get the proper texture and color, you need to remove the pot or tempura pot. That means you can make Big Modeled chicken that is juicy on the inside, tender and tanned on the outside, and crispy.

How Does It Work?

This air fryer uses superheated steam to inject water into food through a pressure-cooking function. And with a powerful crispy lid, it quickly spreads hot air throughout the food without using a lot of oil, creating a crunchy feeling typical of deep-fried foods.

Each Foodi comes with a cook and crunchy basket that can cook 2lbs of chicken wings, 5lbs of chicken, or 3lbs of French fries.

One of the best things is that it can run automatically. Owning Ninja Foodi is like having a reliable kitchen assistant. For example, suppose you forget that you are cooking. At the end of the cooking time, Foodi will automatically switch to the “keep warm” mode to ensure that the food reaches the optimal temperature when you need a meal.

The default duration of the keep warm mode is 12 hours, and the unit countdown is displayed. In this way, you can see how long the Foodi keeps food at a safe temperature.

It also helps you plan your meal. Meal planning is easy if you know that a kitchen appliance can prepare everything from appetizers to desserts. Plus, you can create a weekly meal plan and use almost the same ingredients to reduce preparation time and costs. Alternatively, you can cook lots of food (or have free time) on the weekends so that you can sort your meals during the week.

Another way to start preparing a meal is to roast a whole chicken or minced pork from a boneless pork shoulder. Set them aside until you are ready to add them to other dishes, such as sandwiches, salads, and fried rice.

Of course, the function of the pressure cooker is excellent as it can extract seasonings and vegetable waste from chicken, pork, and beef bones to make a delicious soup that can be used as a base for noodle soup and pasta.

How To Clean Ninja Foodi Air Fryer Lid

The Ninja Air Fryer is an amazing invention that saves a ton of space and energy in the kitchen. However, if I had to pinpoint the worst part of the design of the appliance it would have to be the bulky air fryer lid. It comes attached to the back of the appliance as an alternate lid. It offers the amazing ability to air fry, but it is incredibly difficult to properly clean and makes it hard for the Foodi to be stored.

When you’re using the air frying option, grease splatters onto the air fryer lid and gets trapped behind the grate at the top. This lid offers a great heating element, but the fact that it’s fixed in place you have to get creative to clean behind it. The grate itself can be wiped down with a damp cloth after each use when cooled, but behind it is a bit harder t reach.

There are a ton of people online who advise that you remove the grates and cover to wash beneath it, but I would recommend that check the terms of your warranty before attempting to detach anything from your Foodi. Proceed with caution because you can hurt yourself or void your warranty.

If you decide not to remove the cover, you can get the cover pretty clean using bottle brushes with nylon bristles and flexible plastic-coated wire handles. These are fairly inexpensive and can be attained from your local variety stores or Amazon. Simply use it to scrub around their circumference of the cover. You don’t want to force it way inside where the fan spins as you want to avoid getting the bristles broken and stuck in there. For that section, you can use a spray bottle full of clear water to rinse off the lid.

After you clean the parts you are able to reach, you can set on some clean water in the Foodi to get hot and steam up in the sections you weren’t able to reach in the lid. The steam will help to soften the grease and grime left on the cover. You can even choose to add in some dish soap (if you choose) or even lemon wedges. The idea is to use the least invasive chemicals as you don’t want to risk it being stuck in the fan and getting in your food.

Bottom Line

The Ninja Air Fryer is without a doubt a super gadget. It’s one downfall was the fact that the air fryer lid takes a bit of work to clean properly. But with a bit of steam, a spray bottle, and a bottle brush you can make magic with a grease disappearing act.
