What is a Prime Rib, and how to Choose it?
A prime rib is the piece of meat cut from all the seven ribs immediately before the lion of the animal. The word prime doesn’t mean any prime location, but it is the term that comes from the grading of the meat—grading based on tenderness, juiciness, and flavor. There is a specific criterion that determines whether the meat is prime or not.
- Amount of fat: The fat content within the edible portion of the meat measures the level of juiciness and tenderness of the meat. That fat gives a marble texture to the piece of steak. The more marbling in the meat, the higher the grade will be assigned to the meat.
- Age factor: age of the cow is another factor that determines the quality of the meat. The younger the animal, the tender the meat will be. The animal’s preferred age must be between 9 to 30 months.

Tips to Air Fry Prime Ribs:
Here in this part, I will tell you some rules of thumbs for air frying the prime ribs, and it goes with all the recipes I am going to share next.
Roasting prime rib in terms of temperature in an air fryer is quite the same as you roast on a stove. You initiate the process at a higher temperature to seal the juice and then slow it down to a point where meat gets tender and won’t get overcooked or burnt. Coming down to air frying, when you are ready to put the ribs in an air fryer, set the initial temperature to 390 F and then slow it down to 360F after 15 minutes. Now let the air fryer do its job for another 20 minutes if you use rare prime rib. If it’s medium-rare, give it 5 to 6 minutes extra.
